About Our Coffee

Questions

WHY IS Guatemalan Coffee Better?

There is a lot of technical reasons that make the coffee from Guatemala one of the best in the world: different altitudes, more than 300 microclimates, coffee planted under shade.....but for me, the real reason Guatemalan coffee IS better is the people and the coffee culture that we have in Guatemala.

How Does It taSTE?

Ohh so goood! We use one roast, because its just right. Its a medium roast. We don't Roast it too much and that's very important. Most places default to a dark roast, but in actuality the medium gives you the purest, unaltered coffee taste if used with a good manual technique. [Don't Worry. We Do!] A light blend actually has the highest caffeine too. We're the perfect middle ground. You've got to try it!

How Do You Roast It?

We roast all our coffee in-house, using a really fancy Bellwether roaster. People often mistake it for a snack machine, but its really cool and let's us roast in the Bentonville Library with a machine about that size! We know that most store-ought coffee doesn't come fresh and that's not ok. We intentionally roast our coffee beans fresh every single week and will make sure that you always have the best possible tasting coffee.

Did you know that a lot of coffee on the shelf at the store can get moldy? It's because they roast in massive batches to save money, but it often sits in a warehouse for months before it even gets to the shelves. K-cup tend to have this problem too, because people don't usually rush to drink them or they buy them in bulk to make them last. Our K-cups will be fresh, but don't let them sit too long you hear?

How Long Does Coffee Stay Fresh?

From the moment the beans are roasted - the timer starts ticking. After a bout 2 weeks, you can taste the freshness it dissipating. It's not bad after two weeks, but it's losing it's flavor. After a month...ehh that's when it's lost its punch. Coffee lovers like us would toss it at that point, but after a few months you start risking moldy coffee. Don't play that game, just come get a fresh bag from us. Drink your coffee and no problems! :D

Why Do You Call It 211 cafe?

In the 1700's there was a coffee the lower class people revolted again the rich, because they too wanted coffee. The elite hogged it all to themselves! Sebatian Bach the famous composer (although an elite himself at the time) agreed with the people and wrote the Coffee Kontata. Its a satiric opera about that revolt. We love music and how it bring people together. That's the goal of our coffee so we named the store after that piece.

Convenient spot to grab a cup of coffee and relax or wander through the library.  The cafe is bright and there is plenty of seating with tables or comfy chairs.  They have snack options and pastries as well as sodas and juices.  Love that they serve Guatemalan coffee.  The barista was sweet and fast.  The cold brew is strong and smooth.  My cafe au lait with almond milk was the best price in NWA and delicious.

Like many others, Mauricio introduced me to his coffee and I've never gone back. It's always smooth, unlike most coffee shops that seems to want a bitter aspect to it. Love the medium roast and that it's always freshly roasted. I cannot find a coffeeshop with a better Breve or Cold Brew.

I like the story of the name and their chicken quesadillas are really good. I get them every week!

This hidden gem is great. The barista really knew his stuff and it seemed like he most likely was the owner as well, which is a big plus. He generously answered our questions and gave intuitive suggestions as well. The place was fairly well attended and seemed to be the place where locals came for superb coffee in a chill environment. I got the aeropress Guatemalan coffee, hot. Good stuff.

Mauricio taught me to love coffee, just because his love of coffee flows From him all the time. I used to only like starbucks and thought that was coffee, but thankfully he he broke that spell off me. Haha! (but for real.) I've been a loyal customer for 10 years now! I can drink it black now, but I also love the breve. The London Fog is the best I've had anywhere.

This hidden gem is where I go to get away from it all and get work done. The quality of their coffee is outstanding and the atmosphere is lovely! The owners are regularly present and care about their customers.

We went to visit the shop today and Mauricio welcomed us like we were rockstars. We had a couple of lattes, the black bean and cheese sandwich, and the turkey egg and cheese croissant, which were great. A very recommended visit if you are interested in a little taste of the Guatemalan flavor.

WHAT DOES 211 MEAN?
(BACH APPROVED)

Great artists refer to coffee as the protagonist for many historical events and social upheaval. For example, in 1723, Johann Sebastian Bach created the Coffee Cantata 211 (Kaffeekantate), to which we owe our name. Bach recommended you get some.

This is skeleton filler text, written only to keep the shape alive. It does not carry meaning, it does not aim to convince, it simply marks the rhythm of where real words will eventually go. Like bones under the skin, this placeholder creates a frame that can stand without flesh.
